HomeTiles v0.9.2

v0.9.2 mainly fixes bugs and brings an early version of the voice assistant to the ESP32-P4 panels.

Highlights

  • Direct link: a panel no longer drops its connection to the Bridge every 45 seconds while Home Assistant has nothing to send.
  • Button tile (formerly Scene): its picker finds every scene, script and button through the Bridge, like the other tiles; before, it listed only the ones released in the Bridge options (#106). Existing tiles keep working.
  • Guition JC1060P470C V2: Rotation 0 and 180 work again (#108).
  • Folders: tiles kept in a layout's storage no longer take the folder's free cells. On the Waveshare LCD-4B a free cell of the head bar layout could not take a new tile. The storage now has its own room. A full storage blocks Save in the layout window with a note, and a full folder says so when you click a free cell.
  • Logs name the way the panel talks to Home Assistant (Link or MQTT) correctly.
  • Voice assistant, early version: ESP32-P4 panels with a speaker and microphone play audio from Home Assistant and work as an Assist satellite, also with a wake word (Okay Nabu, Hey Jarvis, Alexa). It is set up in Home Assistant; the panel has no microphone button and no audio settings yet. See Voice assistant.

Update Notes

Update to HomeTiles Bridge v0.9.2 first. The voice assistant and the Button tile's search need it; with an older Bridge the rest works as before.

Use the regular .bin for OTA or the browser installer's Update mode. Use _factory.bin only for a first installation or an intentional reset. Select the exact board and revision.

Going back to v0.9.1: Button tiles picked with v0.9.2 and tiles in a folder's storage beyond its cells are unknown to v0.9.1. Export your dashboard in Web Admin under Import / Export before going back.

Hardware Confirmed

The maintainer tested the voice assistant (speaker, microphone, Assist and wake word) on Guition JC8012P4A1 V2, M5Stack Tab5, Waveshare LCD-8 and LCD-4B, the Button tile search and the direct link on the Waveshare LCD-8, and the folder storage on Guition JC8012P4A1 V2 and Guition ESP32-4848S040 (S3).

Pending Hardware Validation

The voice assistant on the Waveshare LCD-4.3, LCD-7, 7B and LCD-10.1, the Guition JC8012P4A1 V1 and V3, JC1060P470C V2 and JC4880P443 is built from the boards' schematics and not tested on hardware yet. The JC1060P470C V2 rotation fix is built only. The other boards need field feedback as before. See the device support notes.

Thanks to @derhally for starting the voice assistant (#89, #91), to @x-Felix and @andrewnicols for their reports, and to everyone testing.
